Meet Our Theatre Teachers

    Tiffanie Cain
    Tiffanie grew up performing with WCTDC. She earned her BSE in Speech and Drama Education from Oklahoma Baptist University and has taught for 8 years. She began teaching for WCTDC in the summer of 2014.
  2. Katie Harmon
    Katie Harmon
    Katie is a graduate of Friends University where she double majored in Musical Theatre and Math Education. While attending Friends she was also a member of the Singing Quakers. Katie has been performing since 1990. In the past, she has performed for the Wichita Center for the Arts and the Once Upon a Time Players at WCTDC. She is currently a teacher in USD 259.
  3. Emily Green
    Emily Green
    Miss Emily grew up singing and dancing with Ballet Etude’s Ballet in Mesa, AZ. She attended Brigham Young University as a ballet major. She also lived in Chicago where she apprenticed with River North Jazz Dance Chicago.
  1. Brenda Lawton
    Brenda Lawton
    Brenda earned her undergraduate degree in theatre and music from Northwestern University and an MFA in theatre arts from the University of Iowa. She has 18 years experience teaching children's theatre. Before joining the faculty of WCTDC in 1998, she taught at the Children's Theatre of Western Springs in the Chicago are, working with students to create original dramas. During the summer of 2014, she taught theatre classes to children in Kenya. She has also performed in theatres in Chicago, Iowa and Kansas. For the past four seasons, Brenda has performed with the Wichita Grand Opera.
  2. Kevin Reese
    Kevin Reese
    Kevin has been a professional actor, director, tour manager, and playwright. If you've seen any of the Once Upon A Time shows or one of the touring shows in the past 20 years, chances are you've seen his plays. He's been busy raising four kids for the past 19 years, and is happy to be back in the classroom.
  3. Denise Jackson-Simon
    Denise Jackson-Simon
    Denise has a BS in Education from KSU and has done graduate work at WSU. She recently retired from teaching drama at Buckner Performing Arts Magnet since its inception in 1991. Much of her work in theatre has been performing original pieces relating to health, education, and women. She has also designed and implemented Fine Arts and Prevention workshops for youth.

    Kyle Vespestad
    Kyle has worked professionally as an actor with Roxy's Downtown, Crown Uptown, Caberet Oldtown and Mosley Street Melodrama. He has worked for WCTDC since 1996 as a performer and director.
  2. Michelle Vardaman
    Michelle Vardaman
    Michelle earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in opera and a minor in piano pedagogy and accompaniment from WSU. She then received certification for Italian and Opera History from The Instituto Europo in Florence , Italy. She received her masters in Vocal Education from WSU in December of 2012. She opened Michelle's Music Studio in 1996 and has been teaching piano, voice and theatrical coaching ever since. She has performed with Opera Kansas, Cowtown Empire House, Scottish Rite Signature Theatre and WSU Opera Theatre.
